Life at the ORC

The MIT ORC is made up of a supportive community of creative and talented students and faculty who work together to positively impact the world.

Here, you’ll study and research among a diverse group of people from across the U.S. and around the world who share your drive and encourage your success. In fact, we pride ourselves on our close-knit student population.

Our recent renovation has created a bright, open environment that promotes interaction. You’ll have your own personal workspace as well as access to modern meeting rooms and comfortable reading, kitchen, and lounge areas, where informal conversations may spark academic breakthroughs—or simply inspire friendships.

In addition, you’ll work closely with faculty advisers—renowned experts in the field—to select courses and design research projects that are in line with your interests and goals. In and out of the classroom, our students and faculty collaborate regularly, whether it’s through informative research colloquia, interactive seminars, or informal social events. As a result, many of our students and professors form strong mentoring relationships that last far beyond MIT.

This unique spirit of collegiality and camaraderie has been a hallmark of our Center from the beginning, and it’s one of the reasons for our ongoing success—and the professional success of our graduates.
