Open House

Every year, the Operations Research Center holds a two-day Open House for those students who are offered admission for the fall term. To check the scheduled dates for this year's Open House please see the Seminars & Events page.

On the first day of the Open House, admitted students will meet individually with faculty and current students to learn more about the ORC, our research, and the overall MIT ORC environment. In addition, we offer tours of the vibrant MIT campus and surrounding Cambridge/Boston area. At lunchtime, you will enjoy an informal luncheon with current ORC students. The day ends with a social dinner hosted by the ORC for all of our admitted students, faculty, and current students. This is a great opportunity to mix and mingle with those that you did not get to meet earlier in the day.

On the second day of the Open House, you will have the opportunity to hear from a number of faculty about their current research projects. In addition, current students will talk about life as a student in the ORC and at MIT. The day will end with a social event hosted by the ORC INFORMS Student Chapter. This is considered to be one of the highlights of the Open House.

Travel Arrangements

You'll need to handle your own travel plans (i.e., booking flight, train, etc.) to Boston. The closest airport to us is Boston's Logan International Airport. The Open House usually begins at 8:30 a.m. on a Thursday and ends at 5 p.m. on a Friday (or very late if you attend the student social event).
